AgritechMurcia took part in the 11th International Table Grape Symposium (ITGS), one of the world’s leading international events dedicated to table grapes, held in Murcia from 28 September to 2 October 2026.
Luis Miguel Peregrín, President of AgritechMur, participated in the event, which positioned the Region of Murcia as an international meeting point for professionals, researchers, companies and institutions connected to the sector.
Under the theme “The Art of Producing Grapes”, the symposium brought together 650 participants from 30 countries, more than 580 of whom travelled from outside Spain, highlighting the strong international profile of this edition.
The programme combined scientific knowledge, technological innovation, exchange of experiences and technical visits, covering different aspects related to table grape production and its ongoing development. The event also provided an opportunity to showcase first-hand the expertise and technological capabilities developed in the Region of Murcia.

Institutional and business presence
The ITGS in Murcia featured strong representation from the regional agricultural ecosystem. During the event, Luis Miguel Peregrín, President of AgritechMur, met with representatives from institutions, research centres, sector organisations and companies involved in the development of the table grape industry.

Among them were, from left to right, representatives from ITUM, IMIDA, the Regional Ministry of Agriculture of the Region of Murcia, the Presidency of the Region of Murcia, APOEXPA and CaixaBank, reinforcing the collaboration between research, public administration and the business community that characterises both Murcia’s agri-food sector and the AgritechMurcia platform.
Innovation applied directly in the field
The programme also included several field visits focused on different advances related to table grape production.
Within the AgritechMurcia group, we highlight the public research organisation IMIDA, where Itum Grapes specialises in the development of new table grape varieties adapted to the global market, combining research, sustainability and profitability for the agricultural sector.
This practical component reinforces one of the main strengths of this type of international event: connecting research and technological innovation with the real needs and challenges faced by growers.

From Murcia to Peru
The international scope of the symposium will continue with its next edition. In three years’ time, the event will move to Peru, one of the world’s major players in table grape production and exports.
For AgritechMurcia, this transition is particularly significant. Peru is a strategic market for the group, and table grapes are one of the country’s leading agricultural export crops, with production strongly concentrated in regions such as Ica and Piura.
Hosting the ITGS in Murcia therefore represents a new opportunity to showcase Murcia’s agricultural model internationally, strengthen relationships with strategic stakeholders in the sector, and build connections between two regions with significant expertise in technology-driven agriculture focused on international markets.
