HERPA, a member of AgritechMurcia, located in Las Torres de Cotillas, manufactures phytosanitary treatment equipment. “My father started this business venture to fill a need that existed in the market,” says María José Hernández, CEO of the company.
Since its founding in 1980, HERPA has grown significantly, offering a wide range of products that include atomizers, suspended equipment, trailed equipment, cannons, benches and booms.
One of HERPA’s key differentiating strengths is its in-house manufacturing capabilities:
“We are the only manufacturer nationwide of our own diaphragm pump, which allows us to have an integral and vertical. This allows us to have an integrated and vertical production. We manufacture 90% of the components of our equipment, which gives us a competitive advantage, as we adapt quickly to the needs of farmers,” says María José.
Commitment to Sustainability
HERPA stands out for its commitment to sustainability and innovation. “Our flagship products are sprayers and suspended equipment with hydraulic booms. We are always looking to
integrate the necessary technology to optimize the consumption of water and phytosanitary products, minimizing environmental impact and maximizing production and profitability,” Hernandez explains. The company is aligned with the principles of Agriculture 4.0, focusing on digitalization and fuel consumption reduction to provide farmers with the best results.
International Challenges and Projections
Domestically, they are already positioned and have a large weight due to their wide range of products. One of the main challenges for HERPA is to increase its international presence, which currently accounts for 20% of its turnover. The representative emphasizes that they have a great competitive advantage over the rest: “We adapt to the needs that may arise for any farmer, whatever they may be, and we provide quick and efficient solutions. Our objective is to provide solutions to the farmer”.
AgritechMurcia: A Strategic Partner
HERPA has been collaborating with AgritechMurcia since 2019. “Thanks to social networks, we noticed that there was a lot of technology and with the desire to be able to bring something to the business fabric of the Region of Murcia and in the agricultural sector we saw that it was the best partner we could have to bring out all our new technology”.

In line with Agriculture 4.0 trends, HERPA is implementing Big Data and remote sensing tools to facilitate digital transformation in agriculture. “It is crucial to obtain data to make informed decisions and control costs efficiently. We use satellite imagery to analyze land and improve yields.” The future of agriculture will go hand in hand with digitization: “We adapt to all these needs in order to make farmers’ work easier”.
