The lack of rainfall in the Segura River Basin has meant that current water demands for irrigation are not assured. The contributions of the Tajo-Segura transfer have been drastically reduced in recent years, and are insufficient for the irrigation of the crops which are supplied from it.
In order to meet existing irrigation demands, the Irrigation Community applied for a concession to take surface water from the River Argos from the Calasparra Waste Water Treatment Plant (Murcia).
The project consists of carrying out the necessary works for the collection, conveyance and use of surface water from the River Argos for the purpose of agricultural irrigation in the Irrigation Community. Tajo-Segura transfer Calasparra-Cieza region, in the municipality of Calasparra (Murcia).
