Technical exchange with common challenges in agriculture, sustainability and innovation.

Murcia, 13 June 2025 – AgritechMurcia has travelled this week to California to strengthen collaboration with entities of the US agricultural sector, giving continuity to the ties initiated after the visit of Californian representatives to the Region of Murcia. This visit has been promoted by the Secretary of Agriculture of the State of California and responds to the mutual interest in sharing experiences in the face of common agricultural challenges.

During the visit, AgritechMurcia representatives visited Californian farms, technology centres and institutions, with the aim of learning first-hand about the practices and solutions being applied in one of the world’s leading agricultural production territories.

Although separated by thousands of kilometres, California and the Region of Murcia share much more than it seems: an arid climate, water scarcity, high value intensive agriculture… and a common need to find sustainable solutions for the future of the countryside. From AgritechMurcia we come to share our experience, and if there is one thing we know for sure, it is that the efficient management of every drop of water is a differential value that can inspire other territories. Our experience, born out of necessity, is today a strength that can provide solutions on a global scale.

“This exchange is not a trade mission, but a space for dialogue between two regions that, although very different in size, share challenges such as sustainability, productive efficiency and climate resilience. From Murcia we have shown that it is possible to advance in productivity by optimising available resources,” said a spokesperson for the delegation.

One of the points of shared interest has been the management of water resources, where Murcia’s experience has attracted a great deal of attention. The reuse of water, efficiency in irrigation systems and technical training in the field were valued as examples of innovation applied and adaptable to other regions of the world.

The visit lays the foundations for future technical and institutional collaboration projects, with the aim of continuing to connect knowledge and solutions from a global perspective. In the words of the AgritechMurcia team: ‘We believe in international cooperation as a way to build a smarter, more efficient and sustainable agriculture’.
