A new cost-effective solution to support soil functionality as part of the wider ecosystem that includes the impact on food and food products with its consequent effects on human health.
The project aims to develop and fine-tune at farm scale a new technology and its associated techniques for the remediation of agricultural soils from agrochemicals through a combination of solarisation and in situ ozonisation.
The innovation involves the technological applications (new equipment) and the methods used (advanced oxidation processes such as ozonisation and solarisation). The project will test and demonstrate the technical, economic and ecological feasibility of such an innovation, without any alternative available on the market, through a prototype on full-scale commercial farms.
Furthermore, it supports the integration of environmental objectives into the Common Agricultural Policy, promoting the convergence of EU policies related to agriculture and the environment. The aim is to achieve a broad implementation of the system, including a governance approach related to legal and financial instruments.
