NOT ALL COCONUT FIBER IS THE SAME

News

In recent years, coconut fiber based substrates are becoming more popular and although at Originalius we have always bet on the use of this material, we must take into account that NOT ALL COCONUT FIBER IS THE SAME and the correct choice of one or another fiber can be the key to the success of your production.

That is why at Originalius we carry out exhaustive quality controls, pallet by pallet, to guarantee that our substrates comply with all the parameters stipulated in our standards.

The most important factors to take into account when choosing a coconut fiber based substrate for our crops are the following:

GRANULOMETRY: We must know which granulometry to use depending on the objectives of aeration and retention of water and readily available nutrients required by each crop and also based on the needs of the farmer. In addition, this factor will also influence the durability of the substrate, so we must take into account which one to use for each type of crop depending on its duration.

SIEVING: The elimination of fine particles during the sieving process of the coconut fiber is fundamental to ensure the durability of the material and not to produce root aphixia.

HOMOGENEITY: A homogeneous substrate guarantees uniformity when administering water and nutrients in our farm.

CONDUCTIVITY: Through a meticulous washing process we manage to reduce the conductivity of the material and adapt it to the type of crop for which it will be used.

FORMAT/VOLUME: It is important to determine which format and volume we are going to use depending on the type of crop and the number of years we need it to last.

The adjustment of each of these factors when producing our substrates allows us to adapt them according to the type of crop and the climatic conditions of the farm. That is why our substrates have achieved excellent results in different parts of the world and different types of crops.
