The communications modules for water meters are marking a before and after in the water management of the Andévalo Guadiana Irrigation Community. With 185 subscribers focused on citrus, soft fruit and subtropical crops, this community has adopted an advanced remote reading system to monitor water consumption more efficiently, thus facing the challenges presented by drought and water use limitations.
The digitization initiative comes in response to the growing need to implement more rigorous control over water consumption, as well as to optimize the management of this critical agricultural resource.
By enabling irrigators to closely monitor their water consumption, the NB-IoT communications modules installed in the water meters provide the ability to make informed decisions in real time. Farmers can now adjust their irrigation practices precisely, tailoring them to the specific needs of their crops and thus maximizing water efficiency. This approach not only promotes more sustainable water use, but also contributes significantly to improved agricultural yields.
